After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I decided to take a much-needed nap. I laid down but started wondering which was my favorite ghost town this year. Then I started wondering how many ghost towns I visited, then how many miles I put on Honey Badger, then…you get the idea. So much for some much-needed rest.
I gave up on the nap and started to look back at my travels in 2021. I haven’t been good with tracking my trips, so I decided to go through Facebook. It is a rough count but relatively accurate. My goal for next year is to create a logbook of trips, including towns and milage. My list didn’t seem like many ghost towns until I looked back at the number of pages I used.
I visited over 160 ghost towns and historical sites!
While I can’t pick my favorite ghost town of the year, my top trip would have to be my early summer trip based in Tonopah and Tybo. I visited thirty-seven ghost towns and historic sites in a week. The trip was amazing in many ways… one I will never forget.
Another accomplishment was being published for the first time. I had a seven-page feature in Nevada Magazine.
Honey Badger is famous

What is next?
Next year brings exciting opportunities. I will be sharing my first “Top 10 Ghost Towns of Nevada” for northwest Nevada, with plans to add additional regions. Great posts are coming soon: Mountain View, Tunnel Camp, and Ward Mining Camp.
I have several exciting projects in the works. Unfortunately, holidays and weather interfered with meetings; I hope to know more in the next few weeks.
Of course, I plan on visiting lots of ghost towns in 2022. Fingers crossed, if the weather cooperates, my first trip will be to Death Valley and Beatty area in a few weeks.
Have a safe & happy
New Year!
