With the mining boom in Mason and Smith Valleys, a smelter was needed to process copper ore. The location was selected at the north end of Mason Valley to the east of the Sigatse Range. Mono Mill Fire Threat
The Mono Mill is under threat due to lightening caused fire. This includes the beautifully preserved 10 stamp mill, bunk house and unique double ore bin. Most ore bins are set side by side while these face each other. The entire area has been evacuated. I’m so glad we had to opportunity to visit twice this year. ... VIEW POST

Mt. Bullion Town Trip
I hope everyone had a great weekend! It's still crazy smoky in Northern Nevada. It's makes for blah photos so I scouted yesterday and today. I found the schoolhouse I have been looking for in Washoe Valley. Plus the historic Twaddle -Pedroli Ranch. I think I will wait until fall for when the aspen leaves change.
