Silver was discovered in the narrow canyon of Monitor Creek in 1857. Substantial mining and community development did not occur until the early 1860s. Muncktown and Chemung Trip
Friday's drive was favorite part of the weekend. I still visited ghost towns, but my friend Dwayne and I decided to chase fall colors. The best color we found was right below Munckton, so of course I had to go visit the mill site. Chemung and Dogtown Trip
Guess what ghost town I ended up at today? (Richard, you hush up or message me because you will figure it out in 2 seconds. ) It wasn’t in our plan but we decided to photograph the fall leaves. Eastern Sierra Hike Update
I started the weekend early. It’s 9 am and I’m in the eastern Sierras above the Marine Mountain Warfare Training Center. So far today I learned when a retired Army repelling instructor tells me a hiking trail is easy, didn’t listen to him. . And to watch our for cougars. Fletcher, Nevada: Crossroads to Booming Bodie and Aurora
Fletcher Station was built in the 1860s by H.D. Fletcher. During the Aurora and Bodie mining boom the station served as an important way station or "switching station" where teamsters and stagecoaches could trade out for fresh horses.
