I had to make a trip “over the hill” as we say in Northern Nevada. I can’t imagine what emigrants would think of crossing the Sierras, a medical appointment, lunch of Vietnamese food, picking up take out for dinner and making it home in 7 hours. I stopped at Strawberry Valley and Sugar Loaf Houses, both stations on the Pony Express route. Apparently two quick stops is the magic number for my son, I gave up on my third stop.
I have a big weekend planned. Stan Paher, Godfather of Nevada Ghost Towns, invited me to spend a day in Pershing County. It will be a long day but we are visiting at least 7 ghost towns including Star City where I first met Stan 16 years ago. This time I’ll make sure to have his book with me! I’m getting packed and ready for the trip. I’m excited as it’s my first big trip in a month. I hope everyone has a good weekend and the smoke clears out.
