Travel Update: Full Post to Follow
Weekend trip with friends to Rockland and Cambridge. It was a cool but beautiful day to explore. I visited Cambridge in 2003 but forgot. My friends didn’t know about Rockland so it was fun to show them a new ghost town. We were the first people into Rockland since snow last week. We were planning on visiting Pine Grove where I was going to take photos to compare to historical photos but we ran out of time. On the way between the two sites I noticed a rock structure in a large flat area. I asked about it in a ghost town group and my friend Austin at Nevada Expeditions identified the site as Wheeler Flat Dam.
On the way home we made a quick stop at Elm Tree Cemetery in Mason Valley. The cemetery was created by decedents of the founders of Pine Grove.

I find all this information so interesting. I have spent most of my life in the Gold Country of Northern California exploring our history. I live near Nevada City. I was born in Nevada City. My dad had a mine in the Downievile area during the Depression and actually was fairly successful.
Looking forward to exploring more in Nevada.since I am pretty much retired now.

I am glad you will be able to get out more. Maybe we will meet on a Stan trip!
