Winston (foreground) and Margaret (glaring at me from the background) are our current Great Horned Owls. They are new to our ranch this season. A group of owls is called a parliament so we named them after Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher. We haven't seen them lately as they have been at the nest with their owlettes. In 1859 Samuel S. Buckland settled on the bank of the Carson River. He established a ranch and station stop for the Overland Stage Company.
