Valley of Fire: CCC Cabins

August 25, 2021 4 Comments

Valley of Fire is the OG of Nevada State Parks. Nevada's first state park opened in 1934, named for the brilliant red colors at sunset. Although known for its beautiful rock formations and big horned sheep, the park has a wealth of history for visitors to explore, including CCC Cabins, petroglyphs, and the grave of a Civil War Veteran. Mt. Patterson

August 21, 2021 2 Comments

I had a fun trip up Mt. Patterson via Desert Creek. It was a smoky start but we found clear, cool air. It was a great group of people, several I met in Pershing County last weekend. We ended our day at Sno Flow in Carson City, a fun treat on a hot day. Friday I found treasures at a book store that was closing. Between hubby and me, we left with a huge box of books, many signed. My favorite book is "What a ... VIEW POST

Stan and Tam

I made sure to have Stan's book, Nevada Ghost Towns & Mining Camps, with me (unlike last time), even through he already signed it. He remembers our first meeting saying I'm the only person he ever met who took a baby ghost towning. Star City is one of the older Nevada towns I have visited. ... VIEW POST
