Travel Update: Full post to follow
The Three Amigos ride again! Sometimes it was more like the Three Stooges, needless to say I was dubbed Curly. I spent a fun day with friends Shonna and Austin, of Nevada Expeditions fame, in Pershing County. We are all different in age and background but united by a love of exploring and history.
We went with a great group of Jeepers to Humboldt City in Pershing County, not Humboldt County.
Silver was discovered in Humboldt City in 1860 and the town was laid out 1861. Silver ran out and the city was abandoned by 1869. Multiple rock cabins, a store and other structures are remaining. No rattlesnakes but we were prepared. We tried to get to other mining areas and take a different route out but active mining cut off roads were were planning on driving.
Two quick things: 1. I will be changing the Facebook group soon to Nevada Ghost Towns & Beyond: The Gouge Eye Chronicle. Other than the name switch everything should remain the same.
2. I created an email sign up on the website. I will send out a weekly email with a direct link to the article I share here. Sign up to not miss a ghost town due to Facebooks formulary of what they think you want to see.
