Travel Update: Full Post to Follow
Saturday was an amazing 15 hour day lead by Stan Paher and trail guide, author Jerry Aaron. 11 modified Rubicons make for a fun trip! This was Stan’s scouting trip for a class he teaches at the college. He kept us on a tight schedule so we didn’t have much time at each site but we saw so many cool locations: Seven Troughs, Tunnel Camp, Mazuma, Rochester, Unionville and Star City. Our bonus stop was an airmail arrow by Oreana. They were built in 1924, pre navigation equipment, to guide pilots across the US to deliver mail.
I’m starting to go through photos. These are from my iPhone, there is a learning curve transitioning from Windows to Mac! I’m distracted today as my little one started high school and my eldest started college! I swear I was dropping them off at daycare just last week.

Hi Tami
Just started following you recently. I have never met Stan but have talked to him on the phone many times. I will be joining him on his Mina trip in July.
Only recently have I developed a big interest in old mines and ghost towns in Nevada. I live near Nevada City here in California and have visited many mines here. I live in the heart of the gold country, my dad had a mine near Downiville during the depression in the 30s so come by the interest honestly. I am also a Jeeper, being involved with Cal4 and also a member of the Komstock Krawlers in Dayton as well as my local club Grass Valley 4 Wheelers. Pretty much retired now so expect to do a lot of exploring in Nevada. I have been following your site and hope to meet you some time. Until then.

Thank you, ana. I’m glad you are enjoying my site. I talked with Stan this weekend and he said you were joining him on the Mina trip. I was hoping to go but will be out of state that week. I am going on another of his trips later in the summer.
I love Nevada City, we were there a few weeks ago. I’m sure we will meet on one of Stan’s famous trips!

Hey Ron, sounds like we travel in similar groups. I’m here in Grass Valley as well and member of local 4×4 club. Grew up with my Stan NV ghost town book by my side on many adventures. Now almost retired and still doing more exploring out there. Bruce Eppler

I bet you two will cross paths!
I’m preparing for a camping trip with Stan later this month. I can’t wait to see what treasures she shares.
