I had a great day Friday. I love Honey Badger, but a turbo RZR is a heck of a lot of fun! We went up Mt. Patterson from Sweetwater, Nevada. The forecast was clear, but a storm started to roll in. We thought sitting on top of a 12,000’ mountain wasn’t the best idea so we headed to lower elevation.
Of course we visited some ghost towns: Belfort, Boulder Flat, Star City, Stone Cabin and Sweetwater.
Star City, California
We stopped at a cool ranch on the Walker River, I’m trying to find information on the rock cabin. It is in amazing condition, but the mattress frames and tons of rope has me calling it the “Stephen King Cabin”.
We ended our day cooling off at the river. It was a great end to the day…other than all the water snakes, I had no idea they existed in Nevada.
Snake is at the bottom left corner of the photo, no way was I getting closer!
I’ll see what I can get done this week. Our internet was taken out during a thunderstorm and we are trying to figure out where the issue is. One of the negatives of living on the ranch is we have to be creative with internet and beam it to the house (beaming, the extent of my understanding). I’m making due with a hot spot with only 1 bar of strength. I hid in air conditioning the rest of the weekend. I did old fashioned book research and updated the list of towns I have visited. I added so many this year!

That’s the Ravenelle. Named after original owner: It was part of the Hilton Ranch for 50 plus years. Have seen it spelled so many different ways, but based on Sue Silver’s book, Ravenelle is correct.

Thank you. Do you have any information on the old stone structure? It looks older than the concrete building.
