I have a big event at Sutro this weekend; I can’t wait to see this group of ghost towners together. Check back Monday to see who was there.
I drove over Highway 50 for the first time since the fire. The loss of homes, trees, and history is heartbreaking.
I hoped to stop at a few locations and take pictures, but snow covers many areas, and parking is limited. Also, there is a lot of construction with cleaning up after the fire and stabilizing the road. A large portion is a single lane following a pilot vehicle. The one exciting thing I noticed was an old road on the side of Highway 50, around Phillips. I think that might be the original road.
I want to research and go back and hike portions.
