I am a tired, tired ghost towner. So my calendar has written for the next two days “Plan Nothing Weekend!”
In three weeks, I have had: two presentations, co-led two group tours for Trails West, given a private tour I donated for charity, had special access to the Franktown Cemetery, took the kid to Shriner’s, finished the school year for both kids, and had trips visiting fifty-five ghost towns!
Yesterday I had a unique opportunity. I was one of the few people invited to go out with the Oregon California Trails Association (OCTA).
OCTA worked with an amazing group of dogs certified to look for historic human remains. It was fascinating watching the group of volunteers and excellent K-9s work 170- year old sites.
My Memorial Day trip was great. We must have been slacking; only 25 ghost towns! But, we found some unique sites and fun surprises. The weather was an issue, so we made some changes. We had rain, hail, and even snow!
This weekend, I will be trying to catch up on posts about all the activities. I also plan on spending lots of time relaxing and reading on my porch.
