Thank you to my friend Mathew, the executive director of the Nevada Offroad Association. He invited me on the Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association Father’s Day weekend ride. NVOR is a non-profit that advocates for off-road use in the legislature and acts as an intermediary to support responsible off-road activities.
Saturday, we started at the Johnson Lane OHV trailhead. We traversed the Pine Nuts into Dayton, then back through Churchill Canyon and Sunrise Pass. I met a few readers, and one brave Jeep joined the trip. I love my Jeep, but they can’t keep up with ATVs.
Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association is a great non-profit group that advocates for off-road access in Douglas, Washoe, Lyon, Mineral, Churchill, and Mono Counties. They have a variety of activities and are involved in service projects, including land cleanup.
Our members include bicyclists, OHV users, Equestrians, Hunters, and any person that is interested in preserving public lands.

We mostly drove, but I marked a few spots to return and explore. Midway, Mathew had a brave moment: he asked if I wanted to drive. Silly question! He was a great teacher.

Of course, it isn’t an off-road trip unless something goes wrong. One of the ATVs stopped mid-trail. Thankfully we got it running and back to the trailhead.
Pretty Sunsets
I came home to a gorgeous sunset Saturday.
Father’s Day
Sunday was all about Hubby: eggs benedict with homemade hollandaise sauce, shopping at Scheels and Sportsman’s Warehouse, lamb shank with roasted veggies for dinner, and grilled apricots with ricotta, pecans and honey.
