Second Mother’s Day

Walley’s Hot Springs

Historic hot tub

Wednesday, my mom gave me my Mother’s Day gift, a day at Genoa’s historic hot springs and lunch. Emigrants described the hot springs in their diaries. The resort was developed in 1862 by David and Harriet Wally and included 11 hot tubs, a ballroom, and gardens.

The historic hot tub regulates the pool but isn’t used as it is 130 degrees.

As it was Wednesday, the hot springs were quiet. But, travel Tip, they have a discount for locals on Tuesday and Wednesday.

I worked a bit while at Walley’s. Trails West has a marker in from of the restaurant. I must have been pretty relaxed, it was right in front of me, and I couldn’t see it.

Genoa Station Bar & Grille

We planned to have lunch at Walley’s, but they were closed, so we headed into Genoa. We were planning on grabbing a sandwich at either Sierra Chef or Genoa County Story, but the smell coming from Genoa Station was too much to resist. I have driven past but never stopped; I am so glad we did this time.

We looked at salads until we learned it was, but it was “Eat What You Want Day.” So, we decided on a delicious burger and margaritas. My mom had the burger with avocado, bacon, and BBQ sauce. Of course, I opted for a mushroom and swiss burger, with added b

Genoa Station Bar & Grille makes homemade margaritas. The Cadillac version with Grand Marnier is incredibly yummy; after all, it was “eat what you want a day.”

Honey Badger upgrades

Thank you, Hubby, Honey Badger, got an upgrade before this weekend’s trip. Shoestrings were replaced with wire and Gorilla Tape.
She also got a new battery. The current one is less than two years old but working at only 25% capacity. I’m glad I found out while I was home.

Heritage Lecture Series

I think the lecture went well. I was amazed there were about 100 attendees! I wish my kids would listen to me that well. Hopefully I will have some pictures next week to share.

Running Away

The kid has done incredibly well with his recovery from surgery. Not that he is back on his feet; literally, I am ready to get away for a few days. So, I am heading to Lander and Eureka Counties. If the weather holds, I will be visiting some incredible ghost towns! A friend has been restoring the 1880 Colonnade Hotel, and I am anxious to see his improvements.
