***Update, I shared this on my Facebook group on February 28. The surgery and home recovery went very well. We are all doing good, just really tired.
I will not be ghost towning much if at all, the next few months. Instead, I will be spending much of my time at Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. My friends refer to Shriner’s and our hotel as my second home. We have made routine trips for sixteen years. Some years we went a few times; other years, it was weekly trips.
The surgery is not life-threatening. However, it is major surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation. We knew the “big surgery” was coming, but it took a year to set up. We went through the same surgery ten years ago, and I expect I won’t be doing much for two months.
It was a strange Friday. I was ghost towning in 15-degree weather in the morning and 4 hours later sitting by the pool in 60 degrees, ordering Uber Eats Korean and drinking a margarita. On the way home, we met a long-time reader. He and his family are lovely and gracious. While ghost towning in a Jeep is cool, nothing can beat him visiting a ghost town in a plane! Rick, it was great to meet you, and I look forward to an outing with you and your family.
I am pre-scheduling several weeks of posts and newsletters. I have new articles prepared and will pick some of my favorites to re-share. If things go well, I plan on sharing photos from previous trips. I also thought of sharing my favorite resources: books, websites, and groups. I will try to keep up on comments and emails, but I don’t know how much time I will have. When things are back to normal, I’m sure I will be ready for a big ghost town trip!
