Travel Update: Full Post to Follow
Stewart Indian School. The school was open from 1890 to 1980 and attended by Washoe, Paiute and Shoshone tribal children. Indian schools in the US have a mixed history, but I feel it is important to remember both the good and the bad. You can learn more at the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum.
I was told bricks were used as a strait edge on the buildings. Then native quarried rock was used on the rest of the building.

The state is working on opening a museum and cultural center on the grounds. I have wanted to explore the grounds and finally took the time! Thank you Tara for joining me! Some of the grounds are now the Nevada Police Officer training facility.
