Back where I began my trip. The Mizpah has begun to feel like a second home. It has been an amazing week. Seven days, hundreds of miles and 37 sites: Ghost towns, mines, kilns, Petroglyphs, ranches plus spending time with a Nye county historical author.

The week was emotional in many ways. I was a Daddy’s girl but my father died too young. I never knew him as an adult and didn’t live close to uncles or grandfathers. This last week was like having an entire battalion of surrogate dads, uncles and grandfathers. Thank you to all for sending time with me and passing on your amazing knowledge. Some of my favorite times were hanging around the dining table eating bachelor meals.

It was great to connect with so many friends and meet wonderful new ones.

We had a quick visit to Goldfield on the way back to Tonopah. We were going to see the Goldfield Hotel but a paranormal ghost hunters show was being filmed.

I’m spending my last few hours with one of my favorite people. I’m taking Vic, photographer, ghost towner and keeper of all things Hawthorne, out to photograph the big horned sheep. I can’t imagine a better way to end the trip.

It was a long trip!

I’m sorry it doesn’t work on an android Tablet, I have all apple. I will see if I can get it to work on Android, it is a plug-in so I can only change so much. Unfortunately, there is no way to send the map outside of the plug-in. I need to work on updating it too!
