Amazing planning weekend at Pine Grove. I loved meeting readers, new ghost town friends and friends I have “known” for years online.
And meeting Darci who turns out to be my soul sister living an almost parallel life in education, career and family. We had so much fun with Susan, it’s not often I find other women who love to play in the mud, stomp through sage brush and wander old cemeteries all in the name of history. A special thanks to Ernie for putting up with us girls and showing me how quick you can re-inflate tires with CO2.
We spent most of the day at Pine Grove planning the clean up and exploring the cemetery. Darci spotted dugout buildings I hadn’t noticed before, we will explore more in the spring.
We tried to visit Rockland but the road deteriorated quickly so we turned around. So much for a clean Honey Badger. I loved my new radio, speakers and backup camera. My first song on the road trip was “Sit down, Shut up and Hold on” by Toby Keith, I guess I should have warned Darci before she got in the Jeep.
Hubby felt better being about to follow my trip with the GPS. Pine Grove cleanup will be Saturday May 8th. I was asked to help and am now an admin for the Facebook group, “Project Pine Grove”, you should be able to search for the group. Details are being formulated, I think clean up will involve removing trash, modern debris and dead vegetation. Before the clean up I will be working on documenting the structures current condition.
