Travel Update: Full Post to Follow
Edel and I followed the western Nevada portion of the Pony Express route: Woodfords (CA), Van Sickle, Walley’s Hot Springs, Genoa, Carson City, Dayton ending at Miller’s/Reed’s. I would have continued to Ft. Churchill and Buckland but I took the car instead of the Jeep, silly me, and the road is known to destroy alignment.
I found two locations associated with historical events to add to my research list.
Following the Pony Express Route:
Jacks Valley
Miller’s or Reed’s Station. The route continued to the pass on the right side of the hills to Ft. Churchill.
Saturday I reorganized Honey Bader and cleaned out duplicate items and unnecessary storage. Everything is now organized by category (food, emergency, vehicle, survival, dog). Frequently needed items are easy to access. I created Master list of items, where it is stored and instruction guides. My organizing side is happy! I will be creating a page on the blog of our supplies. We didn’t let COVID change out usual Super Bowl plans. A huge Costco trip!

Hi Tami,
Like your newsletter.
We in Nevada have a peak named after our most famous Pony Express rider – Robert Haslam. The peak goes by what people called him – Pony Bob, thus Pony Bob Peak. It is along his route of his longest ride. The peak is about 24 miles east of Fallon on the north side of Hwy 50 and just before Sand Mountain.

Thank you for the information. I knew of Pony Bob and his ride, but didn’t know a peak was named after him. Darn it, I was out that way last weekend, I’ll try and visit my next trip.
