
Wow, it was an amazing day but will take time to process and all I saw. Never mind processing all the pictures.


It was a little different than my usual ghost towns. Today I was a “Rut Nut” and we explored emigrant trails on Carson Pass. We saw wagon roads, ruts, trees with marks from where they raised wagons up steep hills, remains of emigrant bridges, little known graves and even a massacre. The best part was the number of emigrant markings we saw from 1849.


We could have stuck to the highway. Because why drive a paved highway when you can engage 4WD and get dirty


Throw in getting caught hiking at almost 9000’ in a thunder and rain storm and you have one tired explorer! I’m so glad I make double meals and freeze half or my family would be having cereal for dinner instead of homemade carnitas.
